Gard’s Music was founded originally as English Music, back in the 1960’s. In 1978 it was taken over by Wayne Gard, and it was renamed after the Gard family. Over the next 30 years the business grew, and it moved several times into larger and larger spaces. On January 1, 2008, Wayne sold the store to the Sandt family. Daniel Sandt, the new company president, is also a high school band teacher.

In 2010 the store underwent a major remodel, incorporating the best physical aspects of every other local store we could visit. In 2011 Gard’s expanded into a second location, taking over Ontario Music. Summer of 2012 saw Gard’s take over Jam It Music Lessons in Rancho Cucamonga. Jam It is a very small lesson studio that just does a few instrument rentals on the side. Both of the new locations have since been renamed as Gard’s Music.

In summer of 2014 we moved our Ontario location about two miles northwest, to the city of Upland. Business opportunities in Ontario were declining, and the new location is in a major shopping center right off the freeway.

Our company is primarily focused on school band and orchestra students. We offer lessons, do instrument rentals, sell instruments, and do instrument repairs. Although we are focused on band and orchestra students, we also offer guitars, drums, and keyboards. We do lessons for everything, including voice.
